Goodbye, Ethan

You were with me in my high school graduation creative shot photo.

You were with me for half my life.

I'll miss you.

DFA Passport Renewal

I got my first ever passport last November 2007 because I was told I needed to have one for the job I was getting into. We went through a travel agency so it wouldn't be such a hassle applying for one. It was more expensive, but at least all we had to do was fill up the forms, submit them to the agency, and go to the DFA on the schedule the agency gave us. My passport expires this year on November. Since I already have planned trips for October and possible December I decided to renew my passport already, while I still had time (and leaves at the office).

Feeding My Mind

When I was a kid my parents encouraged me and my siblings to read a lot. I read a bunch of kids' books back then including, but not limited to, Sweet Valley Kids, Nancy Drew Notebooks, Goosebumps, and Archie comics. Yeah, yeah, no actual literature, I know. They were easy and enjoyable reading material, so at least I got into reading.

In school I don't think you could ever escape reading. You'd eventually need to read your text books or a novel for your English class. Reading assignments for English class introduced and taught me about well-written books. Some of the books I enjoyed reading for class were "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and "Le Morte d'Arthur". I never got to fully read both books, by the way. Back then they were just school requirements that I just had to finish so I didn't get to enjoy reading them as much I think I should have. So, yeah, I think I should jot them down as books to read this year.

Wake Up, Little Susie

I always say that I am not a morning person simply because I have trouble waking up early. Even if I get more than 6 hours of sleep prior to having to wake up early, I can still snooze through my alarms. And when I say early, I mean any time before 12 noon. Yep...yeah, I know.

Sleep is just so divine. I love the feeling of the cool sheets and pillows of my bed. I love just laying there while the world keeps turning, not caring if I get up or not. I just love the laziness of it all. And, yes, I am lazy.

Losing a Smartphone

Losing my Nexus One is one of the most expensive material losses I've experienced, so far. And it's only the second item I've actually had stolen from me, as far as I know. The first time was my wallet, stolen from my unattended bag, during our NSTP, teaching kids in Montalban. Naturally, I was devastated. I had around P400.00 worth of money in my wallet plus my ATM card, other cards and photos, I think. I only realized that it was gone when we were back in school for our NSTP debriefing.

Goodbye, Hayate

My phone got stolen this morning in the Quezon Avenue station of the MRT at around 9:30 AM.

Calling Out To Everyone

Goodbye, my dear Hayate. I don't even have a real picture of you! =(
I'm calling out to everyone who is reading this: if you happen to see a 2nd-hand Nexus One phone being sold (or someone using it), please try to look at the casing at the back of the phone and note if it has the following words etched at the back:
omgayeo
i am STELLAR!
The text should be laser etched on the silver strip found on the bottom part at the back of the phone. If it looks like if that area has been tampered with or if it's covered, then be suspicious! It might be my Hayate!

Another sign that it's Hayate is if it has a small dent on the upper-left (
or right...I'm not quite sure...I'm sure it's on the upper-left) corner of the phone.

Also, my phone was in a black Capdase leather casing for the HTC Desire. Like here (http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=5&mid=994&pid=6826), except less shiny and I removed the belt clip attachment.

Update

IMEI: 3549 5703 1354 304
S/N: HT9CVP811588

The Nexus One was never officially sold locally by Google so I think there's a relatively low number of Nexus Ones here in the Philippines. If anyone finds out who took my phone or where my phone is, please please please tell me!

It's not really much on the cost of the phone that bothers me about losing my phone, it's more of the data that I had in it plus the sentimental value.

30-Day Song Challenge: Day 01 – Your favorite song

It's difficult to choose a favorite song, especially since new songs come out almost everyday. At one point in my life "Brown Eyes" by Destiny's Child was my favorite song. "Stellar" by Incubus was another favorite, as well as "Aozora no Namida" from the Blood+ anime.

I chose this song as my favorite song because it was the first thing that popped into my mind. The song, by itself, is already awesome, but additional awesomeness is added when you watch the music video.

The energy that the song has is just amazing. One part of the video struck me was when the girl said:
"Some people believe in God, I believe in music.
Some people pray, I turn up the radio."

Mood Music

I'm a music person. I won't say that I can't live without music, because I'm pretty sure I can, but I don't think it would be a pleasant life.

During my morning and evening commute to and from work I usually just set my mp3 player to shuffle all songs. I do this when I'm too lazy to think of what I specifically want to listen to (which is most of the time). Also, it's so I get to listen to the rest of the songs on my player, which I don't get to listen to a lot or have forgotten about.

There are times when I just select certain albums and listen to them over and over. Some of my loop albums include:
  • Hey Monday's "Hold On Tight"
  • Owl City's "Ocean Eyes"
  • Incubus' "S.C.I.E.N.C.E."
  • Incubus' "Make Yourself"
  • Sara Bareilles' "Little Voice"
  • 30 Seconds to Mars' "This Is War"
Sometimes I listen to just one song over and over. Yes, that's right, I listen to one song on loop for hours like an addict. There are times it's because of a certain mood I'm in, like when I'm stressed over work. Most of the time, though, it's just random songs.

First!

As a first entry in my new blog, let me share a list (I love lists) while I come up with a better and more substantial topic for my next entry.

10 Simple Truths Smart People Forget

  1. Education and intelligence accomplish nothing without action.
  2. Happiness and success are two different things.
  3. Everyone runs their own business.
  4. Having too many choices interferes with decision making.
  5. All people possess dimensions of success and dimensions of failure.
  6. Every mistake you make is progress.
  7. People can be great at doing things they don't like to do.
  8. The problems we have with others are typically more about us.
  9. Emotional decisions are rarely good decisions.
  10. You will never feel 100% ready when an opportunity arises.

You can read more about each item on the list from the source of the list in the URL above. I didn't want to just simply copy and paste everything from the source into this post because I find it kind of tacky.

I especially liked numbers 1, 2, 7, and 10. Not totally sure why I do. Maybe because they apply to me? Not really. Probably more because I agree with their ideas. Yeah, something like that. In the end, I guess I like the list because it makes you think. It makes you think about yourself, what you've gone through, and the future.
