I was looking through the Humble Store and saw this:
Whut?
So I looked further into it and was not disappointed. The trailer is just so hilariously WTF.

Not Another Steam Sale!
The hoarder in me gets both excited and worried when it comes to Steam sales. I love getting games at a good price and when they're really good games at less than $10.00 I'm usually more than 50% convinced.

World Animal Day
On the way to work today I heard over the radio that it was World Animal Day. I immediately thought of Animal from The Muppets because I am weird that way.
A few minutes after hearing the news bit I something terrible happened. Traffic wasn't moving that fast which was probably why I saw what I did. The vehicle in front of me, which was an SUV, probably didn't notice it but there was a kitten on the road. I only saw it when it came out from under the vehicle in front of me, jumping around in panic...or in pain. I couldn't just suddenly stop because there was a line of vehicles behind me and might cause an accident. I slowed down, maneuvered the car carefully, and hoped to God that I didn't run over the kitten. I know kittens or cats get run over fairly often everyday because of their lack of road-crossing skills, but that doesn't reduce the sadness I feel whenever I see the roadkill.

Western Oz Adventures: Swan Valley
One of the highlights of my trip to Perth was going to Swan Valley. Jex was able to visit it during one of his work trips with some of his office mates and brought home a lot of nice goodies. He wanted to take me there but a prerequisite of going around Swan Valley is a car (or some sort of transportation to bring you around). After summoning my Google-fu I found several Swan Valley tours that we could take but eventually chose the Speed Grazing tour with Taste Bud Tours.

The Stellaire Steam Giveaway
What is a gamer?
Historically, the term "gamer" usually referred to someone who played role-playing games and wargames. Since video games became popular, the term has changed to include players of video games. While the term nominally includes those who do not necessarily consider themselves to be gamers (i.e., casual gamers), it is commonly used to identify those who spend at least some of their leisure time playing or learning about games.According to the article on Wikipedia about gamers I think I am a mid-core gamer while Jex is definitely a hardcore gamer. I've always enjoyed playing video games since I was a kid and my interest in games expanded a bit more when I met Jex.

Contemplating A Giveaway
I know I post about food most of the time, so here is a post that is not about food but about another one of my interests -- gaming!
Steam is a digital distribution platform used for games and other related media. I created a Steam account a little under 2 years ago for some reason that I can't remember. My account has mostly been dormant since I created it until the middle of last year. It was the first time I participated in the annual money-spending ritual that is called the Steam Summer Sale. According to my transaction history the first games I ever purchased was a packaged set of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2. I have so many games, which I don't play a lot, but I am happy about having them. They don't expire and they'll wait for me until I have time to spare, haha.
This year's Steam Summer Sale is about to end in a few days and so far I've enjoyed playing my recent purchases. Since the sale started I've been thinking of doing a small giveaway with a few Steam-bought games but I'm not sure if there will be any interest from any of my readers (if you're out there).
So here it is: if there are any of you guys out there who are interested in participating in a small Steam giveaway here, please leave a comment. And while you're at it, tell me if you have any specific game that you wish I'd give away, and I'll see what I can do about it!
Thank you!

Kitchen Diaries: BBQ Beef Spareribs & Potato Mushroom and Spinach Side Dish
I love barbecue and I love ribs. Put them together and you have barbecue ribs! I started out with cooking by merely following recipes I found online. After finding my way around the kitchen and developing a sense of technique I've started experimenting. I look at different recipes and techniques and combine stuff that I think might work well together. One of those experiments was this dish.

Twenty Seven
So, I turned twenty seven last Wednesday. Since I'm away from my family and friends it was pretty non-eventful. Lots of Facebook greetings, a couple of Twitter messages, the usual social media stuff. I didn't feel like going out to celebrate either since it was the middle of the week. So we stayed home. Oh, and baked myself a birthday cake and a pizza for my birthday dinner!

Western Oz Adventures: Vegemite for Noobs
Vegemite is a popular Australian food spread made from yeast extract. I think I only know about it from the different travel shows I've seen. Other than knowing that it's an Australian thing I didn't know anything much about Vegemite until the day I decided I would try it.

Western Oz Adventures: First Fridate
Last Friday Jex took me out for dinner and to explore the Northbridge area. The last time I visited Perth I only stayed for two weeks and my exploration of the city was limited to the central business district, where we were staying. If you go on Tripadvisor and look up Northbridge it will say that it's "Perth's cultural and entertainment center" and you'll see a lot of negative reviews about the neighborhood. Well, as an area known for its night life, I didn't really expect much.

Hello Again, Oz - An Instagram Update
I'm back in Perth with Jex again. I've been looking forward to this trip with Jex because we'll be here for more than a month! Last time I only stayed for two weeks. I also get to spend my birthday with Jex, unlike last year.
Another exciting bit (well, for me anyway) is that I'll get to experience Perth winter. We've had oven weather in Manila for months now and I'd really like to escape to some cold weather. Wish granted! Thenight morning midnight we arrived it was 2.6°C!

Birthday Day Out: Wildflour, CBTL 26th St., Shopping
Finally, Set and I were able to meet up last Monday for her birthday. We've been trying to set up a date for weeks but things kept popping up and we had to keep postponing. We decided to meet up in the Fort and try out something new. Our original plan was to have late lunch at Sunshine Kitchen but we didn't do research on their store hours and found it closed. So, we went across the street and ate at Wildflour instead.

Kitchen Diaries: Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting
Most of the time I have to plan the stuff I cook. Our kitchen isn't always well-stocked so I usually need to run to the supermarket for ingredients for the recipes I plan on making. But since I try to make muffins and cupcakes regularly I'm always stocked with the basics like flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, butter, eggs, and milk.

YUMMY Eats 2013 - A Food and Cooking Fair
I just found out about this the other day and I'd definitely go if I didn't already have plans that day. I'm sharing this for others who might be interested.
YUMMY Eats is YUMMY Magazine's annual food and cooking fair. Now on its third year, it will feature upcoming food establishments especially picked by YUMMY Magazine. The event will allow you to sample food from 50 concessionaires. Other activities during the fair include cooking demos, cook-offs, raffle draws, and other food-related activities.
The event will be on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the NBC Tent in Bonifiacio Global City, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. That's a long time to enjoy all that food!
Admission fee for this yummy event is PhP200.00. If you have a copy of YUMMY Magazine's May 2013 issue you get a PhP50.00 discount on the ticket fee (you pay only PhP150.00, yay!). You can reserve and pay for your admission through their website (http://www.yummy.ph/yummyeats/). I'm not sure if tickets will be available at the entrance of the event itself so to be sure it's best if you buy them online beforehand.
